This Netflix Show Inspired a Million-Dollar Okanagan Getaway

The Million Dollar Escape at the Château Okanagan features private jet arrivals and yacht wine tours

Inspired by the elegance of French estates and European craftsmanship, the Château Okanagan on the bluffs of Okanagan Lake in Kelowna was a bit of an undiscovered luxe secret in the region. It spans 44 acres as a private resort and spa, including its own vineyard with pinot noir grapes.

That is, until the estate became a star of Netflix’s reality competition show Million Dollar Secret.

Filmed at the Château Okanagan—which is known as “The Stag” on the show—Million Dollar Secret follows a group of contestants staying at the luxurious estate, who try to determine who among them is the secret “millionaire.” At the start of the show, one player is gifted $1 million and must keep their identity as the “millionaire” a secret to stay in the game and ultimately keep the prize money. Meanwhile, the other players are attempting to uncover and eliminate them to become the “millionaire” themselves and keep the prize. The last player wins.

Netflix just dropped its second season of Million Dollar Secret on April 15. And coinciding with the new season’s release, the Château Okanagan launched a new curated luxury getaway: the Million Dollar Escape.

Inspired by the show, the Million Dollar Escape is a seven-night, private, bookable stay for up to 24 guests. Designed for friends, families or private parties, the Okanagan getaway doesn’t just feature a week-long stay at the château and all its amenities, but also features a suite of curated experiences tailored to the group’s preferences and pace.

And as the name suggests, the package is valued at over $1 million CAD.

The Million Dollar Escape translates the access and luxury seen on-screen into a real-world, all-inclusive getaway for groups seeking an elevated and highly personalized escape.

The activities are planned across themes of water, air and land. Have your very own private jet arrival moment (round-trip from Vancouver). Then, toast with a glass of champagne when you get to the château. Have a private yacht day, from jet skiing to sunbathing on board. Visit the area’s renowned wineries by private yacht, too, complete with on-water dining experiences. Explore the region’s vineyards on helicopter-led wine tours, landing to enjoy private cellar tastings. At the château, relax on a full spa day for every guest, take a hands-on culinary masterclass and have a private art immersion with local artists.

At night, there are multi-course dinners and themed evenings. The Versailles-inspired masquerade includes a six-course French dinner complete with masked performers. The black-tie gala includes a caviar bar and a live string quartet. The trip culminates in a final private concert by a surprise globally acclaimed, award-winning artist. The last night also features a 12-course farewell dinner, complete with a personalized keepsake to take home.

All the while, the estate functions as a fully staffed, private residence. Think: a dedicated chef, concierge and service team. See the full seven-day itinerary online.

We did the math for you: if you find 24 friends, it’ll only roughly cost $41,600 per person (give or take taxes and extras).

If you don’t have 24 friends for an immersive, large-scale experience, Château Okanagan is still available for private stays year-round, with rates beginning at $13,200 per night and a three-night minimum.
