Hot-stone massages, reflexology, reiki and facials are all good reasons to visit Pacific Mist Spa at Kingfisher Pacific Resort & Spa in Courtenay. But most memorable of all are the healing caves. Each of the six caves has a different theme and simulated environment—desert, mystic, ice, astral, salt or storm—complete with giant high-def screens, lush aromas and temperatures ranging from -10 in the ice cave to 82 degrees Celsius in the desert cave. And be sure to make time to follow the Hydropath, a 60-minute self-guided hydrotherapy journey through a simulated West Coast shoreline that features a Swiss shower, mineral massage pool, steam cave, glacial waterfall, river walk and tidal baths.
