This week: Celebrate Richmond's cultural diversity, catch a show (or two) at the Vancouver Fringe Festival, soak up the final days of summer with a beach party + more

Richmond World Festival – Saturday, September 3

The world is coming to Richmond for an action-packed day of festivities featuring over 60 performers on nine stages. Check out music from headliners Delhi 2 Dublin and Juno winners Walk Off The Earth, pick up a snack from one of the 40 food trucks in the FEASTival of Flavours and shop the artisan market to celebrate Richmond’s significant cultural diversity.

TAWAINFest Canada – Saturday, September 3 to Monday, September 5

Held in Toronto and Vancouver, TAIWANFest Canada features free music, art and culinary performances inspired by Taiwanese culture. One of the concert highlights will be A Cultural Tango with Hong Kong  A TAIWANfest Symphony Conducted by Ken Hsieh on Saturday, September 3.

Tinder Party – Sunday, September 4

Boulevard’s Sunday Seafood Boil Series – Sunday, September 4

Take a seat at Boulevard’s communal table and enjoy a glass of Haywire’s The Bub sparkling wine before tucking into a pile of seafood including jumbo prawns, clams, mussels, Dungeness crab and crawfish alongside potatoes, corn, signature bacon cornbread and dessert.

Victory Square Block Party – Sunday, September 4

Celebrate the Labour Day long weekend at the free Victory Square Block Party with music from bands such as Tough Customer, So Loki and Swim Team entertaining the crowds, and food and drink from local businesses including The Capilano Tea House, Slavic Rolls and Melt City Grilled Cheese

The Glass Menagerie – Tuesday, September 6 to Sunday, September 25

Tennessee William’s character-driven story draws on autobiographical elements to tell the memories of narrator Tom. In this classic play, he recounts the story of his mother Amanda and his sister Laura’s quest to find a gentleman caller.

Vancouver Fringe Festival Opening- Tuesday, September 6

It’s that time of year again! Vancouver Fringe Festival is back with another fun-packed calendar of comedy and theatre this fall. Shenanigans begin with Butt Kapinski: Dick on the Fringe opening the festival with a show on September 6 that features Fringe celebrities and a pre-show reception with local drinks and canapes.

Top Drop Vancouver – Thursday, September 8

Meet the makers from boutique wineries, craft breweries, cideries and artisan food producers at the third annual Top Drop Vancouver, in support of the B.C. Hospitality Foundation. Part of a two-day trade show, The Main Event tasting is open to the public and is a unique chance to try terroir-focused tipples from around the world.

RAW Vancouver presents: Verve – Thursday, September 8

RAW showcases indie talents in music, film, fashion, photography, hair, makeup and performance art. Check out the pop-up gallery and fashion show, watch a film screening, and listen to genre-defying music from KAIS (pictured).

Stanley Park’s Second Beach pool is going to be transformed for an “Art Basel Miami”-style party to benefit Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Poolside art galleries, live music, world-class DJs (plus cocktails and canapes) let guests celebrate the last days of summer in style.
