Get ready for all things pumpkin-themed—it's pumpkin patch season in B.C.

It’s that time of year again. The weather is starting to cool and the leaves are changing colour. Pumpkin-flavoured everything is back (we’re here for it), and that means pumpkin patches are in full swing. And farms in the Lower Mainland are going all out for the fall season. Here are 10 spots to snap some photos and pick up some pumpkins this October.

10 Pumpkin Patches and Festivals a Short Drive from Vancouver

1. Petey’s Pumpkin Patch

Petey’s Pumpkin Patch in Chilliwack has put on fall activities for the whole family to enjoy for 25 years. After a short train ride to the pumpkin patch, kids (and adults) can enjoy the bouncy castles, games, a mini maze, visit the petting zoo and purchase food and drinks. Don’t forget to pick your own pumpkin to take home (prices range from $3 to $25).

2. Taves Family Farms

The Magic of Fall at Taves Family Farms is on now until October 31. With over 30 acres of fall fun, take pictures walking through the “Most Magical Pumpkin Garden in Canada” and visit the U-pick pumpkin patch (extra). There’s also a fall apple orchard for apple picking, fresh-pressed apple cider available (along with other hot drinks, cocktails and mocktails) at the Taves Estate Cidery, adult-suited giant jumping pillows, farm animals to pet and a hayride through the farm.

3. Harris Pumpkin Patch

If you’re only in the market for pumpkins, then the Harris Pumpkin Patch in Maple Ridge has you covered. Opening to the public on October 15, this family-run patch has been serving the community for over 30 years. The Harris Patch has free admission for those looking to find their perfect pumpkin, snap a few pictures and be on their way.

4. Richmond Country Farms Pumpkin Patch

The Richmond Country Farms Pumpkin Patch is open now until October 31. With wagon rides, live music, train tours, farm animals, a corn maze, food trucks, plenty of photo ops and even a take-home pumpkin included, there’s a farm full of activities for kids and adults to enjoy. Be sure to stop at the Farmer’s Market on the way out for some fresh local produce.

5. Art’s Nursery Pop-Up Pumpkin Patch

Get into the spooky spirit at Art’s Nursery in Surrey with its 11th annual Scarecrow Festival. This year will feature 60+ unique scarecrow scenes with a pop-up pumpkin patch. The festival is family-friendly and pet-friendly, including live music, food trucks, a scavenger hunt, festive photo ops, a free mini pumpkin patch for the littlest ones and a selection of locally grown free pumpkins outside the festival for cooking or carving. The small admission fee to premium festival areas goes to local charities.

6. Loft Country Farms

Known for its kids camps, Loft Country Farms’s pumpkin patch is open every weekend this October. This pumpkin patch is perfect for horse lovers. Along with access to the patch, a tractor ride, petting zoo (plus treats to feed the animals), a mini corn maze, a play ground and gem panning, extras can include a horse-drawn carriage ride or a pony ride for children. Pumpkins along with food and beverages are available for purchase. Ticket prices are higher at the door, so book ahead.

$22 general admission, $17 for senior admission (65 and up), 2 and under are free.

7. Maan Farms

Fall at the Farm is back at Maan Farms in Abbotsford until November 2. New attractions this year include the 10-foot tall pumpkin house in the forest pumpkin patch, three themed corn mazes, the Dinosaur Den with animatronic dinosaurs and the petting patch with Highland cows, alpacas and pony rides. Stay after sunset to experience the Frightfully Fun Forest Pumpkin Patch with twinkling lights and fog (separate tickets). After a full day, fuel up with pumpkin-themed dishes at Mama Maan’s Country Kitchen or sip on seasonal specialties at Maan Farms Estate Winery.

8. Southlands Heritage Farm

Every day is pumpkin farm fest day at Southlands Heritage Farm in Vancouver. Solve the pumpkin fest scavenger hunt and take home a pumpkin at the annual festival running until the end of October. Select days also include food trucks and pony rides on a first-come, first-served basis.

9. Eagle Acres Dairy & Pumpkin Patch

There are over 25 pumpkin varieties and gourds to choose from at Eagle Acres Dairy. After a hayride to the pumpkin patch, enjoy the day picking through pumpkins, exploring the barns, greeting farm animals and picnicking at the patio while kids play on the playground. Plus, there are plenty of photo ops with the seasonal decor around the farm, too. Don’t forget to bring a bag to carry your pumpkins.

10. Greendale Acres/Chilliwack Corn Maze

The pumpkin patch at Greendale Acres in Chilliwack is now open. Take home your favourite pumpkin from the over 15 varieties grown in the patch. Kids can enjoy the bubble bar, pedal cart track, corn sandbox, ball zone, animal displays and rope adventure course. While you’re there, wander through the namesake corn maze (open until October 31), before getting a homemade pumpkin spice coffee to stay warm. On October 31, Greendale is also hosting a Halloween Parade for some pre-trick or treat fun at 4 p.m.
