Canadian Hot Apple Cider

Topped with a dollop of whipped cream, this comforting treat tastes like a boozy apple pie

Canadian falls and winters are cold, requiring every possible effort to stay cozy and warm— like sipping on this hot apple cider, for instance. Steaming mugs of fresh apple cider (unfiltered fresh apple juice) are lightly sweetened with Canadian maple syrup and given a little kick thanks to a splash of bourbon. Come to think of it, the cold season doesn’t sound so bad after all!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups fresh apple cider
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 2 ounces bourbon whiskey

GARNISHES

  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Dried apple rings

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the apple cider and maple syrup and heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until hot. Stir in the whiskey and pour into mugs.
