We uncover the most picturesque and unique Airbnb stays beautiful British Columbia has to offer
Location: Rivers Edge Cottage and Sauna, Edgewood
The details: $136 per night (two night minimum stay), plus fees; sleeps six
The amenities: Hidden on the banks of a horseshoe-shaped pond, Rivers Edge Cottage and Sauna is surrounded by nature and offers the most relaxing and private space. Having travelled the world and stayed in many BnBs, hosts Tasha and Nathan designed this cabin with guests in mind. Equipped with a full kitchen, including a fridge, stove, coffee maker and toaster etc., they’ve also included a wood-burning stove and high-speed WiFi (for those who just can’t live without). The cabin sleeps six with one private queen bedroom, an open loft with a king bed and fold-out couch. And for memorable nights, there is a fire pit and picnic table beside the pond in the back, and a BBQ located on the beautiful covered front porch so sit back and watch the geese swim by. But the most exciting addition to this stay has to be the totally unique wood-fired sauna nestled on a tiny “island” in the middle of the pond.
The property is a hobby farm with horses, chickens, ducks and turkeys, plus three large—but very friendly—guard dogs that patrol the property and are likely to visit you during your stay (A huge bonus in our eyes!) Horses are also likely to graze around the area and their runner ducks enjoy a visit to the cabin for a swim and to cool off during the day. This Airbnb stay is a nature lover’s dream!
Activities in the area: With plenty of hikes and walks around the local area, this stay is only a 15-minute drive from Arrow Lake, and 20-minute drive from the second warmest lake in the province: Whatshan Lake.
