The Swedish outdoor brand Fjällräven brings their high-quality apparel and equipment to the hikers, bikers and campers of Vancouver

Located at 147 W. Broadway in Mount Pleasant, the new Fjällräven (Swedish translation: “arctic fox”) storefront is bursting with backpacks, outdoor gear and stylish apparel for every adventurer. The space features clean fixtures and displays in ashwood, which helps give off a very Swedish vibe. Click through to see what this new retailer has to offer. Sadly, the Canucks on-site weren’t for sale.

Jackets

Carrying sister brands, such as Hanwag, Primus and Brunton, Fjällräven offers a ton of gear for any Vancouver traveller. Take note of their Eco-Shell jackets, which are free of harmful chemicals like fluorocarbons that can damage the environment. The jackets are also a part of Eco Circle, which is a closed-loop recycling system for polyester. On top of being awesome for the environment, these jackets are also windproof, breathable and 100 per cent waterproof.

Backpacks

The store features an array of backpack styles, including smaller ones for children. On opening day, the popular Kånken backpack was flying off the shelves.

In addition to backpacks and jackets, you’ll also find camping and travel equipment, such as water bottles, containers and lanterns. Their women’s line includes shirts in wools and cottons, jackets, pants and shoes.

The Canucks Say Hello

Special Canucks guests – including the Sedin brothers, Alexander Edler and Eddie Lack – were present to sign backpacks, with 100 per cent of the proceeds from every Kånken pack purchased that day going towards the B.C. Children’s Hospital.

A Successful Open

With a candy bar, an actual bar and Swedish appetizers (yes, meatballs were served) the Fjällräven opening was a smashing success. Housing men’s and women’s apparel, backpacks for the whole family and a staff more than happy to lend their expertise, you should definitely stop by Fjällräven before your next outdoor adventure.
