Big changes are afoot at ShoeMe.ca with a new owner and hundreds of new brands for Canadian shoppers
Anyone who has ever slipped on a fresh pair of kicks can attest that change isn’t such a bad thing, and that’s a philosophy ShoeMe.ca agrees with. The Vancouver-based company has been revolutionizing the way Canadians buy shoes, and now it’s been acquired by Clearly Contacts founder Roger Hardy. Since its inception in 2012, it has grown into Canada’s leading online shoe retailer, and Hardy has no doubts that online shopping will continue to gain even more traction.
“Nobody has time to get out and go find the shoe that they like, go walk through four stores to see 12 brands in each store. I think step one is just access to that big selection, the convenience of doing it from home and if there can be savings in the equation, gosh, it’s a win.”
ShoeMe.ca currently offers popular brands like Nine West (pictured above), Birkenstock, Via Spiga and much more. The site allows users to filter by size, gender, colour, type, width and brand to create a custom shopping experience.
Along with ShoeMe.ca, Hardy has also bought Seattle-based OnlineShoes.com and he intends to consolidate the two companies into a West Coast shoe empire. He promises consumers won’t have to wait long to see changes.
“Over the next 12 months and even in the next 45 days we will be making some big inroads in terms of new brands we’re going to offer. Right away we plan to extend the catalogue that you see. If there are 100 brands on ShoeMe, there are more than 300 on OnlineShoes, so we’ll be extending that inventory to ShoeMe.ca.”
Shoe enthusiasts can celebrate the addition of about 200 brands to ShoeMe.ca, but that’s not the extent of Hardy’s exciting plans. Clearly Contacts found huge success in developing their own Derek Cardigan line of glasses and something similar may be in the future for ShoeMe.ca.
“We love the idea of developing our own brands and/or working with fast-growing brands… maybe designers who have already done the skill work in terms of developing a great brand and a great product, a great piece of footwear.”
By providing selection, convenience, and unbeatable prices for shoppers from Victoria to St. John’s, Hardy seems to be taking ShoeMe.ca a step in the right direction.
