A wood barrel sauna, adorable cabin and endless forest views... this is a recipe for relaxation.
Looking for a winter getaway? Enjoy stunning lake and mountain views at this quaint cabin nestled in the forest in Nakusp. The Kootenay Lakeview Retreats Forest Cabin offers an immersive experience as you comfortably stay amongst the towering trees.
Location: Nakusp, British Columbia
The details: $276 per night plus fees; sleeps six
The amenities: The exterior of the home is unassuming, with a dark rustic roof and natural wood walls. There is a lake-facing deck available to enjoy fresh air throughout the day. Have your morning coffee here, or indulge in a chapter of your favourite book while listening to the birds chirp.
Just off the deck is an outdoor wood-barrel sauna and spa area. Cozy up in the sauna, then take a plunge in the cold pool to rejuvenate your body with the stunning nature as your backdrop.
Head back inside to an open living space after relaxing outdoors. This space houses three bedrooms and one bathroom. The main bedroom boasts a queen-sized bed and offers excellent views of the outdoor scenery. The second bedroom is a smaller space with a double bed. This room has its own separate entrance from the deck, making it a nice private area… so you can travel with friends or family without being too close. The third bedroom features a bunk bed, and can only be accessed through the main bedroom. This space is great for children who want some independence but still require adult supervision.
The living room has expansive windows that offer dwellers a magnificent view of the waters and towering trees. The interior of the cabin has a modern barn aesthetic thanks to the light oak colours and black hardware accents throughout. The interior colour scheme combined with the sliding wooden barn door makes this space look straight out of Pinterest vision board.
This stay is a blend between urban convenience and rural tranquility. The host offers high-speed internet connectivity for when you want to stay connected with the outside world–great for those of us who are selective about exactly when we want to unplug.
This cabin is located just five minutes away from Nakusp town, where you can explore local shops and restaurants. Looking to do some outdoor activity? Head over to Summit Lake Ski Hill for some downhill or cross country skiing, or explore the local historic mining towns like New Denver and Kasloat. In the summer, you can try mountain biking at popular bike park Mount Abriel or hike up Saddle Mountain Lookout Trail and Wilson Falls.
