April is BC Wine Month, and wine lovers from across the province are heading to the Thompson Valley’s thriving winemaking scene. Find out why . . .

Get ready to indulge your senses and treat your taste buds because April is BC Wine Month! And this year sommeliers across the region are raising a glass to the Thompson Valley and the Kamloops Wine Trail.

This blossoming wine region is a must-visit for any wine lover, offering a thriving winemaking scene with a diverse range of microclimates and semi-arid conditions that provide the perfect environment for winemakers to experiment with exciting new flavours. Its unique character and charm also set it apart from more well-known wine regions.

Let’s dive in and discover a taster of what’s on offer this springtime, and beyond!

NEW WINE RELEASES

This spring sees the release of fresh new 2022 vintage whites, including a new wine from Privato called Sorpresa Bianco. This wine is a new mate to the popular Sorpresa (Italian for surprise) red blend and is made with a Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Frontenac Blanc blend. Another new wine to Privato’s collection is the Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon blend, a classic Bordeaux-style blend made with premium B.C. grapes. Privato’s exceptional quality and expertise make it a top choice for wine lovers’ wish lists in 2023.

HARPER’S TRAIL WINERY CELEBRATES FINAL SEASON

It’s Harper Trail’s final season under existing owners, Ed and Vicki Collett, (we’re not crying, you’re crying). Be sure to visit their tasting room every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in May for daily wine specials, happy hour with live music and a limited release of award-winning library wines. This is your last chance to savour and stock up on their incredible wines before they close under the current owners.

SOAK UP THE SUN AND THE VIEW AT MONTE CREEK WINERY

Dine al fresco and take in breathtaking views of the vineyards and South Thompson river at The Terrace at Monte Creek, re-opening in May. A local favourite, this outdoor dining experience will debut an exclusive library flight of wines this year along with a new selection of wine-inspired cocktails, and a seasonal menu that showcases the bountiful food that B.C. has to offer.

WINE EVENTS GALORE!

The region may be known for being less crowded than its better-known counterparts, but they sure know how to party. The laid-back vibe and truly welcoming hospitality—a norm on the Kamloops Wine Trail—creates an unrushed, friendly environment where you will genuinely feel like an important guest. Be sure to mark these dates in your calendar!

Mother’s Day Celebrations (May 14)

Mothers are a big part of the winery ownership and operations in Kamloops and deserve to be celebrated on Mother’s Day. Privato will be featuring a Mother’s Day garden picnic basket with selected essentials and wine, providing the perfect opportunity for quality time together.
