Overwintering Purple Fountain Grass

Purple fountain grass (Pennisetum setaceum ‘Rubrum’) never even overwintered well in the big greenhouses at VanDusen. It looks best freshly imported from California and continues to look wonderful well into the fall. But in the face of dark and cold, it goes downhill pretty fast! The only hope would be a greenhouse with commercial lighting… not too handy a suggestion, I fear!
