Olde and her colleagues took on the challenge of redesigning this disappointing entranceway into a beacon of welcome where guests are easily guided to the front door.

“An entry with a wide, winding pathway of pavers does wonders for warming up the greeting,” she says. Nestling the steps beside a granite retaining wall to make them visible to visitors provides a clearly defined entrance to the home, made all the more pleasant by the soft palette and texture of the surrounding arrangement of plants.
