The skinny: Three-bedroom, three-bathroom, 2,462-square-feet property located on a 14-acre villa in D’Arcy
The chic:
This property is exactly what comes to mind when I think of a suburban escape. It offers all of nature’s goodness – from shimmering lake views to an abundance of greenery. It is truly a property that can make you forget all about your home in the city.
This residence consists of a two-bedroom, two-bathroom log house and a separate one-bedroom, one-bathroom ‘Earthship’ home. Both residences are entirely decked out with elvin designs – something straight out of The Lord of The Rings. Soft lines and curves fill the home’s silhouette without a trace of sharp lines or angles. This focus on fluid lines mimics the types of structures you’ll find in nature.
Starting off with the ‘Earthship’ home, you’ll find an undulating roof with a vibrant green and orange glaze. The inner and outer wall of the property is made of exposed stone, perfectly tying in with the surrounding nature. Arched windows with mosaic glass trims are adorned along the body of the home, adding to its playful atmosphere. The main entrance of this home is a large, arched wooden door with geometrical glass panels throughout, foreshadowing the lively interior behind the doors.
Head inside to find interior design elements that make you forget you are indoors. Everything from the exposed stone walls to the mosaic glass decorations screams whimsical.
Head into the bedroom to find a large open space, complete with an ensuite bathroom. This bathroom may be my favourite part of the home, as it features a stone bathtub, stone shower and sauna. Just imagine having a cold shower here on a hot summer day!
This home also offers geothermal warmth, a cold dunk tank and an 8.3Kw hydro power plant. Not only does the interior design mimic elements of nature, but it is also environmentally friendly.
Explore the log home for more nature-inspired goodness! This main home offers the same Elvin energy as the Earthship home, but is slightly more understated (in terms of colour). It features a wooden mosaic design along the living and dining room walls, a curved ceiling with exposed wood and asymmetrical windows.
This space is furnished with asymmetrical wooden furniture that plays into the fluid lines of the walls and ceiling. Its custom cabinets and live-edge counters help to streamline textures in the home, making the space feel warmer and more inviting. Note: Take a look at the handles on the cabinets – it’s all in the details!
Standing in the bathroom will feel like you’ve been transported to Disneyland, as the ceiling is decked out in mosaic glass tiles, allowing light to glimmer as it shines through. Here, you’ll also find a large stained-glass mosaic window with a lily flower design.
The master bedroom has ethereal silver stone tiles along the floor, an ensuite bathtub and a private entrance to the wrap-around deck. This room offers a freestanding fireplace and wide windows along the width of the room. Imagine looking out to the sunrise along Anderson Lake as you sip your morning coffee by the fireplace. Absolutely Stellar.
The second bedroom in the home features a beautiful mural along the walls depicting the nearby scenery. The abundance of wooden elements in this room – from the floor panels to the walls – allow dwellers to feel warmth in the small yet mighty space.
The hidden extras:
This property also offers a wine cellar and basement space that can be turned into a workshop. The basement is equipped with an industrial sink, providing convenience for any passion projects you might have.
With the full 14-acre lot, custodians will have plenty of space for free reign. From sandy beaches to grassy lands, the beauty of B.C. is right in your backyard.
