The skinny: Seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom, 6,791-square-feet estate home in Tofino
Never have to pick between urban chic and nature again in this estate home. Located directly on North Chesterman Beach, this modern offering gives you the best of both worlds. This home sits on 0.67 acres of land and provides two distinct living quarters. Custodians have access to a two storey, 4,600-square-feet main home and a 2,200-square-feet guest wing.
The exterior of the main home offers a majestic view, with the floor-to-window ceilings and a sleek metal roof. You’ll also find a matching outdoor wood fired sauna around the back of the home.
Head inside to find consistent styling throughout the home, with the main colour-theme being cream, light beige and black. Custodians will be able to enjoy the Douglas fir clad cathedral ceilings and hand scraped hardwood floors throughout the property.
You’ll be greeted by a large family room inside, complete with a deep-set U-shaped sectional sofa. Spend your evenings cozying up in this plush space as you gaze out into the starry night through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Here, you’ll also find two bedrooms, three bathrooms, access to the private hot tub and access to the garage.
On the second floor of this main home, you’ll see a beautiful skylight across the ceiling, letting in an abundance of natural lighting. In the main space on this floor, you’ll find the living room and a dining and kitchen space, separated by a double sided STUV wood fireplace.
The kitchen features black countertops, a black backsplash and black accents with light oak cabinets–perfectly complementing the minimalist aesthetic throughout the home. This space has access to two separate balconies, great for enjoying your meal outdoors in the summer! The kitchen appliances are neatly integrated into the shelving, so there is no need to worry about odd items affecting the streamlined look.
Custodians can admire the sunsets atop North Chesterman Beach every night through the large floor-to-ceiling windows right by the living room. The absence of a T.V. in this space allows you to fully take in the beauty of nature.
The living room windows lead to a spacious balcony overlooking the sandy beaches below. Enjoy a summer night out here roasting marshmallows over the fire pit!
On the other side of the living room, you’ll find a sitting room. The sitting room houses another fireplace, and acts as a cozy space for a couple of people to relax.
Beyond the sitting room is another family room connected to a secondary kitchen and another bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. Although this is a secondary kitchen, it offers everything the primary kitchen does, just on a smaller scale. Enjoy the same black countertops and integrated appliances here! This other side of the second floor is great for guests, as it provides a comfortable amount of space to themselves while still being connected with the rest of the home.
There is a detached caretaker studio cabin on the same lot as the main home. This cabin offers a similar feel to the main home, with a simple yet functional layout and minimalist accents. The colour-theme in this cabin is much lighter than that of the main home, with less black accents throughout.
Not only does this cabin offer a spacious storage room, but it also houses two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Although there is no designated living room in this space, you can get creative and transform the halls with added sofas or armchairs.
