The days are getting longer and sunnier, and now is the time to explore new ideas for every room in the house. The following home decor items (sourced from B.C. and beyond) are designed to lift up your space and gently hint at spring’s eventual arrival.

A pretty floral tablecloth

Simons Maison, one of my favourite Canadian retailers from Quebec (with a location at Park Royal), has just launched their latest home décor collection titled Retro Kitsch. Browsing through the store or online is currently my happy-home-shopping place. I’m loving this linen/cotton checked and floral tablecloth.

Stylish vegan skincare

Here’s something nice for the bathroom: Prohibition Wellness is a new Canadian skincare brand that’s gender-neutral, minimalist, vegan and cruelty-free. Using hemp seed oil, a well-known anti-inflammatory, the product line is safe for most skin types. Plus, 1% of all gross sales are donated to environmental wellness through 1% For The Planet.

Pink and blue Le Creuset goods

2025 is the Le Creuset’s 100th anniversary (can you believe that?) and the Winter Dusk collection just hits right with its calming shades of chambray, shell pink and agave. If you’ve never treated yourself to a piece or two from this classic French cookware brand, celebrate their centennial by doing so.

A soft and sustainable facecloth

Lavoh is a Vancouver brand that’s created a reusable facecloth that removes makeup and cleans your skin using only water, no cleansing products needed. I’m still puzzling about what kind of magic goes into making them (and why waterproof mascara just wipes off with this facecloth) but they just plain work. Keep one in your guest bathroom, too, and remember one Lavoh cloth replaces about 145 packages of disposable wipes. Talk about a sustainable solution.

A sleek, minimalist dresser

Silk & Snow just launched its latest bedroom collection, “Tofino,” on February 10. The Canadian brand does beautiful furniture crafted from hand-finished, kiln-dried oak, and this line has a Westcoast vibe with modern and clean finishes. The dresser is my favourite with its Japandi design principles and tool-free assembly.

Garden-inspired candles

When the dark winter days and all their grey gets you down, just light these pretty floral candles from Simons and remind yourself that spring surely will come soon (ish). It’s a great price ($18) for this set of three too.

Watercolour printed bedding

Villa Cotton’s Italian bedding collection inspires dolce dreams of Como when you slip beneath the covers. Duvet sets adorned with watercolour designs are made from long-staple cotton that’s breathable and perfect year ‘round. Sometimes a bedding refresh is just the boost our bedrooms need. Full disclosure: I may have stayed in bed the entire weekend when I first got my set home.
