Sweeten up your Valentine's Day with these delicious local chocolates, candies and doughnuts
This award-winning artisan chocolate shop makes all their chocolates with natural ingredients. The Ultimate Chocolate Box is a unique twist on a box of chocolates because the box itself is edible. If that’s not enough to satisfy your Valentine’s sweet tooth, the box can be filled with up to 18 of Gem’s signature chocolates.
Treat yourself and help those in need with the “Lucky in Love” doughnut from Lucky’s. All the proceeds from the $5 treat will support local charity A Loving Spoonful, which provides free, nutritious meals to people living with HIV/AIDS in the Greater Vancouver area. The doughnut is filled with decadent strawberry and vanilla, topped with a champagne butter cream and finished off with a chocolate strawberry. It will be available exclusively on Valentine’s Day at both 49th Parallel and Lucky’s Doughnut cafés.
If you end up leaving your Valentine’s chocolate shopping until the last minute, Thomas Haas has you covered. On February 14, the store is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the West Broadway location so you can pick up one of their signature gift boxes as well as a six-piece box of heart-shaped truffles.
What could be more perfect for Valentine’s Day than heart- and lip-shaped candy? Swedish candy shop Karameller will be offering up limited quantities of Valentine’s-themed cubes, jars and bags until Feburary 14. You can customize your container with any of the 100 varieties of candies in the store — all of which are free from GMOs, trans fats, and high-fructose corn syrup.
Choose from award-winning ChocolaTas’ large collection of Valentine’s chocolates. A popular option is the Heart of Romance Tin, which includes six assorted milk and dark chocolate caramels for just $14.50.
Located in Abbotsford and Fort Langley, Little White House and Co. is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a Sweetheart High Tea. Each tea service will include a macaron, cookie, fruit, cupcake, scone, finger sandwiches, Earl Grey tea, and more. All that will only set you back $24 per person.
If you’re looking for the biggest selection of Valentine’s chocolates, look no further than Purdy’s. With over 35 different options, you can chose from peanut butter hearts, chocolate lips as well as a wide variety of heart-shaped boxes filled with chocolate assortments.
Faubourg is adding special items to their menu for Valentine’s Day, including a heart-shaped macaron stuffed with dark chocolate mousse, raspberries and a salted caramel centre. They are also offering raspberry rose and strawberry black pepper macarons, which can be purchased in either an $18 box of 9 or a $36 box of 19.
