Local Getaway: 3 Glamping Stays in B.C. Nature

Catch the last of the summer air at these glamping stays just steps from the outdoors

Take advantage of the final weeks of summer weather and plan an outdoor escape. Wake up to the sound of birds chirping and fall asleep under the starry sky. Here are three outdoor-indoor stays near the water in B.C. (that are also pet-friendly!) so you can fully immerse in nature without having to set up your own campsite.

1. Cultus Lake: Glamping Tent

Location: Lindell Beach, British Columbia

The details: Enjoy an outdoor retreat nestled in nature at this glamping tent. This stay offers a 360-degree skylight above a king-sized bed, providing excellent natural light throughout the space. You’ll also have a great view of the ferns and tree branches overhead. If you’re craving as much proximity to the outdoors as possible, this stay offers an outdoor kitchen, outdoor tub and private shower, where you can enjoy some R&R while stargazing. Sip on your morning coffee on the private outdoor patio as you inhale the fresh scent of nature. There is a telescope provided in the main living space for those who enjoy stargazing.

Since this stay is located on working farmland, there will be farm animals and farm activity sounds in the area. And just because this is “glamping,” it still counts as camping—be sure to pack all your camping necessities. There is no heating at this stay, so dress for the weather.

2. Shuswap Lake: Star Dome

Location: Blind Bay, British Columbia

The breakdown: $229 per night plus fees (two-night minimum stay); sleeps two

The details: If you are looking to truly unplug, this off-the-grid stay offers a relaxing experience. This stay is located on 30 acres of private land, which you have full access to. The dome itself is nestled amongst trees and offers a beautiful waterfront view. Since there is no power at this stay, there is a wood-burning fireplace inside the dome to keep you cozy. Picture curling up in bed to watch the sunset through the bay view window.

The areas surrounding the dome are equipped with various amenities, including an outdoor cooking area with a BBQ and grill, a dish-washing area and a portable toilet (sorry, no shower). There is also a spacious outdoor hot tub by the dome, which would make for a relaxing nightcap

3. Eagle Bay: Perched Yurt

Location: Eagle Bay, British Columbia

The details: Experience a nature retreat while still enjoying the convenience of modern amenities at this yurt. This canvas cottage is perched up amongst the trees, offering an excellent overhead view of Shuswap Lake. Since this stay is literally between the trees, there is a handy bug net surrounding the cottage for your comfort. Inside this space, you will find a king-sized bed, a loveseat, a sink with cold running water and filtered water and a cooler. There is no refrigerator, so store all perishables in the cooler.

Just outside the cabin, you will find a BBQ grill with a side burner, an outdoor shower with running hot water and a separate proper toilet. There is also a balcony area with a propane fire pit for you to enjoy a glass of wine under the starry sky with the warmth of the soft blaze.

This stay is only 200 metres away from the nearest beach, so you can enjoy a beachfront morning stroll right by the crystal clear water. For more activities in the area, go golfing at Talking Rock Golf Course, head over to Adams River Rafting for white water rafting or hike around the 20 acres of forest land that this stay is situated on.
