New lineup, new location, plus free fair admission with ticket price
Every spring we anxiously await the PNE’s announcement of what Summer Night Concerts we can look forward to in late summer, and this year’s lineup is nothing short of stellar. The usual outdoor stage has moved to the Chevrolet Stage at the Pacific Coliseum this year while construction continues on the new PNE Amphitheatre due to open in 2026.
The concert series kicks off August 17 and runs until September 2. Anyone purchasing a concert ticket will have free admission to the PNE Fair, meaning you can make a meal of it, with fairway rides, Whack-A-Mole and mini donuts during the day, then hitting a world-class concert in the evening.
The Summer Night Concerts list of performers includes legendary Canadian rockers Bachman-Turner Overdrive, with frontman Randy Bachman “excited to celebrate BTO’s 50th anniversary of their first performance at the Pacific Coliseum.” Randy’s musician son Tal Bachman will join him onstage, plus touring musicians Marc LaFrance, Brent Knudsen, and Mick Dalla-Vee. BTO has sold over 40 million records worldwide, has 120 gold records, and Bachman finds if very cool that “our music is still used in commercials, video games, and a new generation knows us.” As well as playing BTO classics like Takin’ Care of Business and You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet, Bachman promises that “we’ll be playing some classic Guess Who hits as well.”
Other Canadian super-talents in the lineup include Burton Cummings and Colin James who share the stage, plus powerhouse vocalists Amanda Marshall and Serena Ryder. Charlotte Cardin (who pretty much owned the 2024 JUNO Awards) will perform plus much-loved bands Barenaked Ladies and Blue Rodeo.
80’s icon Blondie, led by new wave queen Debbie Harry is scheduled plus The Commodores have paired up with The Pointer Sisters for 80s R & B. Flo Rida is sure to be a fun show, as well as rap legend Ludacris, and the I Love the 90’s Tour featuring Vanilla Ice, Rob Base and All-4 One could take us all back.
Legendary musician John Fogerty, plus country music’s Brad Paisley are scheduled, plus The Punjabi Virsa Concert Series performs here for the first time.
