Adventure and Relaxation at REO Resort

REO Rafting & Yoga Resort has been a place of adventure and relaxation since the eighties.

REO Rafting & Yoga Resort has been a place of adventure and relaxation since the eighties, tucked away in British Columbia’s rugged Fraser Canyon, where stories from the Cariboo Gold Rush past echo through the rugged terrain.

Located just a few hours from Vancouver, the drive to the resort weaves and winds its way past stunning vistas and views of the Fraser River, eventually taking you past Boston Bar, over the railway tracks and along the bumpy road that leads you “off grid”, through the remote wilderness to REO. You are sure to spot a few deer grazing happily at the side of the road, greeting you on your way.

The family owned resort, surrounded by the Nahatlatch River, is truly a nature lover’s paradise.  It’s hard to imagine that just last year a wildfire burnt its way through the property destroying much of REO in its wake. Over the last several months the Fogelman family and staff from around the globe have worked tirelessly to rebuild, reinvent, and recreate the natural magic that was once part of the resort for decades.

They have done just that. From the time you arrive you can feel a calm connection to nature. This is where you come to unplug from city life, throwing a bit of adventure into the mix. The perfect way to unwind is by checking into a cozy glamping tent along the river. REO was an innovator in the glamping world before it was even trendy.

Once you enter your decked out spacious glamping tent you won’t want to leave. Especially when you can hang out on the tent deck overlooking the Emerald hued Nahatlatch River.

After much devastation, it’s obvious at every turn that a restoration of sorts has reemerged at REO, with new buildings going up, and a hammock garden to sway in. You can even practice your downward dog in the small yoga pavilion set up along the river, where you can enjoy daily classes. It’s an intentionally perfect spot to stretch and arch with the cool breeze and the sound of the rushing river lulling you into a meditative state. If you need to relax even more, book a deep tissue massage during your stay to release any tension and loosen your muscles after a day of white water rafting.

White Water Rafting Adventure

Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping rafting adventure. There is no messing around with safety at REO. The top-notch experienced guides at the resort make sure that you and your group are all set. Slide into a wetsuit, slip on your helmet, and hop on the resort bus that takes you down to the commanding Nahatlatch River. Be prepared to experience the best rafting in British Columbia.

From the time you get on the raft the river appears daunting in the distance, with its fast flowing three to four + rapids, yet once you are out there on the river with your guide telling you to paddle hard any trepidation begins to subside, and the pure rush of riding the wet and wild rapids takes over. It’s an experience like no other – a true mix of thrilling adventure, a reminder of life’s ebb and flow, and the intricacies of how nature works at its own speed.

If you are still up for more outdoor adventure during your stay at REO, you can sign up for an archery class, or hike around the property with views of the canyon. If you just feel like chilling in nature, head to the resort’s private white sandy beach. At first glance you may think you have been transported to the tropics. Spend the afternoon lingering in one of the hammocks, and dipping your toes in the cool river water.

Star Gazing

The stars are abundant at REO. One of the advantages of being deep in nature is unobstructed views, with no city lights to block a starry night sky. Head back to your cozy glamping tent, turn off the lantern and gaze up through the trees at The Big Dipper. If you are lucky you may even make a wish on a shooting star. The perfect way to end your stay at REO rafting and yoga resort.
