It’s one thing to taste a glass of Pinot with its delicate taste of cherry and strawberry notes and quite another to realize it was hand-harvested and single berry sorted on a traditional vineyard that is still worked by mares doing the heavy lifting.
Horse power is the name of the game at Working Horse Winery.
Great views of Lake Okanagan from the Working Horse Winery Inn.
Wake up to a farm fresh breakfast in bed in the Inn’s rustic Queen Suite.
Now, whether or not such knowledge amplifies the taste experience of that glass can be tested with a farm stay at the Working Horse Winery in the heart of the Okanagan Valley.
The Peachland vineyard offers a relaxing retreat at its Inn, where you’ll wake up to freshly brewed coffee and a fresh farm breakfast delivered to your door as you slowly wake up to another day of clean country air.
After breakfast, get out and explore the 22-acre vineyard, strolling the fields and discovering the labour required for producing such a fine wine in an organic and sustainable way. Later, of course, you can taste the fruit of that labour, savouring the wines made in this very special place.
The land was first homesteaded at the turn of the century and abandoned in the 1930s. Later, in 1973 the farm was planted by hand by the present owner Tilman Hainle, whose legacy lives on in the organic practices he initiated.
Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or a person who just likes to relax in a calm bucolic setting, the Inn at Working Horse Winery is a way to really get away from it all and live the romantic country life, if only for the weekend.
The farm is located within minutes of beaches, boating, skiing, the wine tour route, restaurants and shopping.
