Chase Adventure: Talking Rock/Quaaout resort

Enjoy a local treat – visit Talking Rock/Quaaout resort in Chase, B.C., at Little Shuswap lake. Here, Chef Gene Dery supports local growers and farmers, making the 100-mile diet available to guests. Last year, he enlisted Arlene Soloman (shown with Chef, left) to create a lush medicine-wheel food garden; veggies are featured in the restaurant’s menu spring through fall.

Other additions to the menu are gathered at Kamloops’s fabulous farmer’s market, where locals of all ages congregate downtown on St. Paul Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues, April through October to enjoy the fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers. Impossible to resist: giant bunches of golden beets, potatoes from Red Lake Farm, shiny purple onions and fresh food galore!
