The details: This stay is close to the city and offers a great balance between convenience and relaxation. Each booking comes with a complimentary two-hour spa session. Enjoy the saltwater hot tub, cold plunge and sauna. If you’re not ready to head inside just yet, you can soak up the fresh air in the outdoor lounge area with a fire pit.

The space inside is modern and well-lit, with enough room for a solo traveller or a couple. The wooden elements in the home add a touch of nature, making you forget that you are so close to the city. The main living area features a Murphy bed that you can easily transform into a couch. If you’d like to cook, the kitchenette is equipped with a sink, stove, small fridge and microwave. Pots, pans and condiments are also available for your ease. Whether you’d like to stay indoors and enjoy the 40-inch flat screen TV or spend an afternoon kayaking, this spot offers both relaxation and adventure. Pets are also welcome for an extra fee.

The details: Enjoy vast mountain views and water-side tranquillity at this off-grid stay. Great for those looking to fully unwind, this spot offers a tranquil ambiance and rustic charm indoors, with plenty to do nearby as well. You can try out all sorts of water sports, like paddleboarding, kayaking or just floating on the available inflatable island. Too cold to swim? No problem. Relax with your family and friends by the fire pit on the two-tiered deck at dusk as you sip a glass of wine (or cup of hot chocolate).

The interior of the cabin is rustic with a touch of retro flair, with high ceilings and large windows ensuring that you have plenty of natural light even on the gloomiest days. You’ll find two bedrooms and a loft for sleeping, a fully equipped kitchen and an indoor wood-burning fireplace for an extra cozy atmosphere. Board games are also available for those who prefer to relax indoors and enjoy the waterfront view.

3. Craftsman’s Cottage

The details: This spacious brick home features an open-concept living space, with plenty of room for a large group to gather and enjoy a meal together. While this stay is only a five-minute walk from waterslides, amusement parks, hikes and restaurants, the main selling point for me is the large outdoor wooden barrel hot tub. Imagine soaking in the tub on a cold winter afternoon. If there’s anything beneficial to your wellness, that would be it. There are three bedrooms in this home, one with a king-sized bed, another with a double bed and one with two single beds. There are also two full bathrooms and one half bathroom, so nobody has to fight for the shower. Spend a slow morning enjoying your coffee on the patio, or watch the sunset on the rooftop deck.
