Portobello West tries on a pop-up shop for size.
Elroy Apparel stars in Portibello Petite
You may have noticed pop-up shops around Vancouver—little makeshift stores that pop-up out of nowhere, provide local goodness for a short period of time, and then vanish just as quickly as they appeared.
They are a smart and fun way to make a big impact in a short amount of time. It’s a way for an indie clothing company, community group or a gaggle of artists to share their wares and ideas in a relatively cost effective adventure. They hunt out vacant spaces, rent them for a stint and spread the love!

This August Portobello West, Vancouver’s popular fashion and art market, is celebrating its five-year anniversary by putting together Portobello Petite, a pop-up shop of their own, consisting of five of their regular vendors.
Check out Elroy Apparel, LittleMoSo, Street Cat Designs, Beta5, and Jen Ellis at Portobello Petite (Kingsway and East 10th Ave) for the perfect sampling of what you would normally find at the monthly market—Eco fashion, kids apparel, jewelry, and chocolate!
Portobello Petite kicks of August 4th and runs ’til 6 p.m. on August 27, when the vendors will switch back to their regular Creekside Community Center location for the Portobello West fifth anniversary market on August 28.
Portobello West will continue its regular schedule at the Creekside Community Center on the last Sunday of every month, including this Sunday, July 31st. Admission is $2 but children 12 and under get in for free.
