If it's too tough to contemplate putting away your favourite summerwear, here's how to integrate those sunny staples right into your fall look
Packing away your summer wardrobe is always a bittersweet time. But with warm days wending their way into September, it’s easy to bring your favourite summer pieces with you beyond Labour Day.
Here’s a look at what to keep on hand and how to wear it with your newly unpacked sweaters and tights.
Your summer scarf is the perfect transition piece into fall season, when chillier mornings and evenings call for coverage but chunky winter scarves are still too heavy. If your summer scarf is a bold colour or print, pair it with a neutral toned shirt for balance and a pair of jeans for an easy put-together look.
Summer sandals can definitely still work on warmer fall days, especially if you want to squeeze every last drop out of your summer pedi. Pair them with a flowing maxi skirt and large, warm cardigan for the best of both worlds.
Your tank top was essential on hot summer days, but in autumn it becomes a perfect layer under a summer blouse, cardigan or cute jean jacket.
Wear your summer shorts right into the first few weeks of September paired with a cozy sweater and comfortable sneakers for a casual and comfy fall look. If it gets a little too chilly for bare legs, throw on some tights under the shorts for extra warmth.
You can still rock a dress without sacrificing your warmth in chillier weather. A beloved summer dress can easily transition to fall with a thick pair of tights and snug cardigan or jacket. If your dress is neutral (black, grey, white, brown or navy) try it with brightly coloured or patterned tights or cardigan for an extra pop. If your dress is printed or a bright colour, pair it with neutrals.
