Eco-Friendly Home Tips for Summer
Show off your green thumb this summer with the help of Victory Gardens' new video series
If living in an urban jungle is getting in the way of growing your own greens, Victory Gardens is here to help. The Vancouver-based team of farmers aims to establish gardens in urban centres and help people grow their own organic vegetables. And in a city of green roofs and eco-friendly fever, they have no trouble finding an audience for their message of community-based sustainability. Victory has helped build gardens for popular restaurants like The Acorn and Abode, as well as on balconies and backyards around town.
Victory’s latest endeavor is a series of Youtube videos titled, “How to Grow an Organic Vegetable Garden.” The videos look to educate people on effective urban farming in a playful and informative way. The first video, “Planning,” was released on April 29 and addresses things to take into consideration before you even start planting. Future issues that will be addressed include soil, seeds and transplants, winter gardening and growing garlic.
From seeds to soil, Victory’s online store has all you need to get your own garden started. If your green thumb still needs a little cultivating, Victory Gardens also offers one-on-one coaching sessions. Other services include soil testing, garden sitting and helping to build a personalized planting guide.
If you need any inspiration, check out Victory’s gallery of gardens to see how you can go green even in the middle of a metropolis. Watch the video, book a consultation and get growing. The sooner you start planting, the sooner you can enjoy all the fruits of your labour.
