Lettuce needs cool temperatures and lots of room to grow!

Q: How can we avoid bitter bolting lettuce?

All the lettuces prefer cool growing condition and lots of room. The big butter lettuce plants need about a foot between them.

Plants that are going straight to flowering have been very stressed so they need more room, good nutrition and regular watering.

I love our beautiful ‘Esmeralda’ butter lettuce, never bitter and always tender and delicious.
