The latest home design and decor news, including Yaletown design destination The Cross’s amazing expansion, graphic rugs and Pantone’s colour of the year (hint: Prince would approve)
The Cross Decor and Design in Yaletown Expands
When The Cross Decor and Design Shop opened its doors in 2003 on the outskirts of Yaletown, its signature white furniture and glam accessories helped usher in an eclectic, European design esthetic to the city. As the neighbourhood has grown, so has this one-stop shop for playful and pretty finds – from Moroccan poufs to luxury, all-white Egyptian cotton bedding. The design destination recently completed a renovation, resulting in an additional 3,500 square feet to its already spacious digs. Items are now conveniently grouped by departments that include a brand-new paper shop, bedroom section, custom furnishing area and a jewelry shop.
Vancouver-based contemporary international artist Zoë Pawlak has lent her name to a series of graphic rugs by Burritt Bros. Carpet and Floors. The collection features five Himalayan wool and viscose rugs based on her abstract oil painting, titled Over Oceans. Each of the five rugs depicts the movements and variations in a massive expanse of water. Her Technicolor work has been featured in Martha Stewart Living and hangs in the private collections of celebs like Cobie Smulders and Cristina and Trevor Linden.

Pantone, the authority on colour, has selected Radiant Orchid as its colour of the year. Spruce up your interior space by incorporating this eye-catching hue in paint, accent pieces and accessories. It complements deeper greens and is gorgeous when paired with teal and even light yellows.
