Korean street food hot spot The Frying Pan has recently moved from Gastown to the heart of the West End to serve up classic favourites and tasty new menu items
Restaurant: The Frying Pan
*NEW* Location: 1101 Denman Street
The Dish: Korean street food offerings
The Details: Got a fried chicken craving? We can help. Korean street food hot spot The Frying Pan has recently moved from Gastown to the heart of the West End to serve up classic favourites and tasty new menu items. The restaurant is fully licenced and offers dine-in, delivery and takeout options.
“We’re thrilled to have found a new home for Frying Pan in the West End and look forward to introducing ourselves to the neighbours,” says co-owner Sunny Jung. “We’ve always loved the West End and we look forward to continuing to showcase the best Korean-inspired cuisine for long-time fans and first-timers alike.”
Formerly a Fatburger franchise, the West End location will be Frying Pan’s only bricks-and-mortar location, but if you’re looking for a real street-food experience, their food truck will remain at the corner of Burrard and Pender.
Must-order dishes include the Hot Chicken Sandwich (which you can order as mild-hot, medium-hot or extra-hot) with toasted buns, spicy mayo, pickles, slaw and Nashville-x-Korean-spiced chicken breast; the Smoked Beef ‘Bulgogi’ Fries (these are so good) with waffle fries, house teriyaki sauce, house mayo, cheese, green onion, bulgogi and sour cream; and the Boneless Bites—a great option for kids—which you can order from mild to extra-hot with a variety of sauces. All the sandwiches are super-satisfying and packed with Frying Pan’s signature crispy, light and tasty fried chicken.
New menu offerings include Korean-inspired fare like the Pa Dak Sando with chicken breast, soy sauce, house mayo, pickle, slaw, green onion and chili powder on a toasted bun; as well as new vegetarian and vegan-friendly dishes, such as the Veggie Sando with a vegan patty made of yam, potato, onions and carrots, paired with vegan mayo, pickles and slaw.
Frying Pan’s new Denman location is open Sundays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Frying Pan food truck will continue to serve lunch from its downtown parking spot at 505 Burrard Street Wednesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., as well as making regular stops around Vancouver.Rich Won
