This summer, catch live demonstrations by skilled Vancouver chefs and sample meals made from fresh, mouthwatering ingredients
Shopping local at Trout Lake Market
It’s never easier to eat local than in the summer, when a bounty of produce and goods from surrounding farms and artisans arrive in the city via the Vancouver’s Farmers’ Market.
This year, the Trout Lake market will be running its “Market Kitchen” program, a special series of live cooking demonstrations with some of B.C.’s most skilled chefs. The chefs will source ingredients from the day’s market and prepare a meal in a live demonstration in front of market-goers.
Burdock & Co. chef and owner Andrea Carlson will cook on August 18; Maenam chef Angus An will cook on September 22; and West executive chef Quang Dang will cap off the series on October 20.
Vancouver Farmers’ Markets have special events throughout the summer, including the Corn Festival on August 25 at the Kitsilano market and the Tomato Festival on September 16 at the Trout Lake market.
