B.C.’s Best Coffee Shops for Networking and Working

Our picks for cozy, entrepreneurial-friendly coffee shops in the province

1. Analog Coffee

Analog Coffee

Located in the bustling Yaletown area of Vancouver, this coffee shop sits amongst trendy bakeries and restaurants. Its location allows for plenty of foot traffic, as a SkyTrain station, restaurants and businesses alike are very close-by. That being said, their expansive space with plenty of seating allows for customers to comfortably dine-in, whether that be to host their coffee chats or work on their laptops. This spot offers both traditional and modernized coffee drinks (like the dolce pumpkin spiced latte), as well as a selection of locally-sourced bakery items and sandwiches.

2. cafe club.

cafe club. is a trendy one, but a good one. This spot is tucked away neatly in the Burrard Properties building, discernible only by its signage hanging from the building awning. Look for a cerulean blue “c”, followed by a bright red period. The cafe space extends to the office building’s lobby, allowing for extra tables and chairs for visitors to mingle and network. If you enjoy trying unique drinks, this is the spot for you! Their selection of drink offerings include items like the blueberry lavender matcha latte and the mont blanc. In terms of food, they offer quick breakfast picks like overnight oats, a selection of pastries (the brownie croissant sounds absolutely decadent), sandwiches and soups. This spot also supports an online “order ahead” option for those who would prefer to simply grab and go!

3. Lovelarte

You can find this local coffee shop underneath the Vancouver Public Library. It has plenty of seating and natural lighting for visitors to comfortably work away on their devices for the day. The modern and cozy interior space gives off an inviting atmosphere, with benches and larger tables for bigger groups. Their drink offerings lean more towards the traditional side, with items like americanos and lattes. Their food offerings, however, span a large scope, including wraps, sandwiches, pasties and cakes. I wouldn’t recommend this spot for coffee chats, solely because it is a generally quiet space. If you’re looking for a spot to chat and network, read on for other options!

4. Nemesis Coffee

Nemesis Coffee

No surprise here – as a Vancouverite favourite, Nemesis Coffee is sure to make the list. This spot is known for their selection of artisan pastries (like the cronut, a croissant and donut hybrid) and delicious lattes. However, the specific spot that made the list is their Great Northern Way location. This location has a dome-like exterior and an expansive interior space, finished with wooden elements throughout. This space provides a cozy atmosphere for both laptop work and networking chats. For those who are interested, they also offer a tasty brunch menu, served daily until 3 p.m., consisting of items like the pork belly eggs benedict and turkish eggs. Aside from hot foods, they have a selection of pastries (their croissants are to-die-for) and drinks from their coffee bar. Check back every few months for their seasonal pastries and drinks!

This neighbourhood spot first gained popularity from their lemon and matcha tiramisu, but actually has much more to offer! They have a wide selection of pastries, tea mistos and asian-inspired drinks, like the matcha lemon soda and roasted sweet potato latte. Since this spot is tucked away in the Cambie neighbourhood, it is generally quiet, making for a great remote work location. Grab a slice of cake and work away!

This Kelowna coffee shop offers up a groovy, retro atmosphere with its selection of rare books available in-house. All the available novels and book ends were collected from the 1960s, so customers can get a glimpse of what the world was like back then. This homey cafe is a great spot for remote work, as you’ll be situated amongst others quietly reading away.
