Buying organic dried beans in bulk is easier than ever with many Vancouver-area grocery stores and markets offering extensive bulk sections with a wide variety of organic products.
When buying anything organic, however, be aware of what you’re actually getting. The labelling of genetically modified foods (GMOs) is not mandatory in Canada, and many stores aren’t able to say with certainty whether their organic beans are non-GMO.
And just because it’s organic doesn’t automatically mean it’s non-GMO. In fact, only foods labelled 100 percent organic are guaranteed to be non-GMO in Canada.
