Bookmark this for Easter, Mother's Day and more

Springtime. Calendar holidays that gather friends and family to the table. Tulips, daffodils and cherry blossoms hinting at warmer weather to come. Window shutters and blinds flung open, welcoming some much-needed weekend sunshine. It’s time to serve up fresh fare and perfect pours: here are the best local wines to pair with spring brunch this year.

7 B.C. Wines to Pair with Spring Brunch in 2025

Township 7 2023 Viognier

Township 7 2023 Viognier shows off South Okanagan fruit with whiffs of ripe peaches, honeysuckle and a bit of citrus with a refined, rounded character. It’s fermented in seven neutral French oak barrels. Pair this with a creamy cheese and snack platter for guests to graze on when they first arrive. If the weather cooperates, grill up some cedar-planked salmon to serve along with scrambled eggs.

Mission Hill Reserve Chardonnay

Mission Hill Reserve Chardonnay 2022 combines grapes from the winery’s Oliver vineyard (including fruit from their 1992 award-winning Chardonnay vines) with their Naramata Ranch estate grapes. Each vineyard has a distinct microclimate, and that results in a blend that can’t be beat. Tasting notes include B.C. apple, vanilla and toasted hazelnut. Pair this Chardonnay with chicken and waffles or a bagel board with a variety of cream cheese flavours and smoked trout.

CedarCreek 2020 Platinum Sparkling Chenin Blanc

CedarCreek 2020 Platinum Sparkling Chenin Blanc is the result of 50-year-old vines from the Golden Mile Bench Terroir, producing a stellar sipper made with traditional sparkling wine methods. Hits of honeycrisp apple, baking spices and tea dance delightfully with elegant bubbles and a creamy, dare I say it, classy mouthfeel. This one is gorgeous paired with frittatas, brioche French toast or a flaky fruit tart.

Blasted Church 2023 OG

Blasted Church 2023 OG showcases Pinot Noir and Gamay Noir in their traditional method, resulting in sparkling wine with its inviting rose gold hue. Berries, red apple and toast are the first notes, and the wine’s delicate bubble is a crowd-pleaser. I love it with elevated breakfast sandwiches layered with peameal bacon, crispy-edged fried eggs, arugula and heirloom tomatoes.

Coolshanagh 2019 Blanc de Blanc

This sparkler is a first for this B.C. winery: Coolshanagh 2019 Blanc de Blanc features organically grown Chardonnay grapes. Aromas of brioche, citrus peel, clove and Okanagan sage play nice with fancy seafood brunch heroes like fresh oysters, smoked salmon and ceviche.

Road 13 2022 Select Harvest Viognier

Road 13 2022 Select Harvest Viognier  is full-bodied with notes of B.C. stone fruits and honey. It’s lovely paired with a brunch-y charcuterie board that includes roasted vegetables. Try it with eggs Benedict, a classic quiche Lorraine or a French omelette.

Evolve Brut Premiere

The Time Family of Wines brings us Evolve Brut Premiere made from 67-percent Chardonnay and 33-percent Pinot Noir grapes in the traditional sparkling wine method. Try it with brunch mains, of course, but why not save it for dessert? It’s perfect with pavlova, strawberry trifle or springtime French macarons.
