Some of us are simply born good hosts. Others need a little help. The Lower Mainland now provides several convenient options for delivery services that will fully stock your bar—and other cabinets in the house—on your schedule. A simple phone call or online order can secure even the finest wines or specialty craft beers. With most boasting the same business hours as private liquor stores, these services are the easiest ways to treat your guests to a classy cocktail party, without breaking a sweat.

Dial-A-Bottle now services major metropolitan centres on both sides of the 49th parallel and will promise all the makings of a fine cocktail to your door in Vancouver in under an hour. There’s little need to pre-plan mixers either as the company will deliver soda and any number of other items to top off your recipe. Perhaps most convenient? They will lug away your empties, eliminating the burden of hauling out the remnants of a good clambake.

Everything Wine bills itself as the province’s “premier destination for fine wine, accessories and education.” The company’s three locations offer daily tastings, a varied and extensive inventory of the nectar of the Gods along with a lengthy list of Reidel stemware and other accessories. If it’s easier to phone in an order, delivery is complimentary on orders over $200 and customers purchasing a full case receive a five per cent discount off the top. Members of their wine club look forward to convenient home deliveries each season in one of three themed categories: seasonal, enthusiast or vintage.

Frequently lauded as one of Vancouver’s best liquor stores, Darby’s is a Kitsilano institution—but they will gladly head to your neck of the woods for deliveries as well. With over 1,500 types of liquor on hand, the pub’s staff will charge a minimum $5 to bring a beverage of choice to one of many Vancouver neighborhoods, including Yaletown, UBC and the West End.

The name says it all: simple delivery. Fill liquor requests, satiate fast food cravings or even collect some cleaning: SDS will complete your to-do list and be at your door swiftly for just $10. Additional fees may apply for extra stops or deliveries outside of Vancouver, but there’s a thoughtful add-on: send a gift and SDS will wrap the present and provide a hand-written note to accompany it, for just a few dollars more.

Based in Surrey, “Dan the Delivery Man” has been handling various delivery requests since 2013. A $12 charge will cover most deliveries, though the final bill can increase with lengthy distances or a number of collection stops. Like most such services, Dan requires two pieces of identification for liquor deliveries.

“From the store to your door” declares Liquor Valet—and it specializes in exactly that for residents of Vancouver, North Van and Burnaby. Liquor Valet sets itself apart by offering customers three delivery options: rush orders for under an hour (depending on traffic and order size), same-day service (for those on a more relaxed calendar) or scheduled service (which generally comes at a cost of $10). Rush and same-day orders may incur extra charges and delivery times are confined to a more office-like schedule with operating hours stretching from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.

Cheers Vancouver declares, “We bring the party to your door!” They will do just that—until 11 p.m. nightly Monday through Saturday. (Sunday sees a much earlier deadline.) A basic charge of $10 will secure smaller orders, with the coverage area stretching from Vancouver over the bridge to North or West Vancouver and out east to Burnaby and New Westminster. Expansion plans are in the works for other areas of the Lower Mainland.
