Comedy in a brewery? Sounds like an amusing way to while away a Sunday evening. Comedy at Big Rock’s Half-Anniversary Show features Vancouver stand-up Chris James, a veteran of the Vancouver Comedy Festival, who will be headlining the show alongside other local comics and L.A.’s Ryan Reaves.

Inspired by British pantomimes (pantos), Vancouver TheatreSports League (VTSL) revives the tradition of a pantomime dame when HRM (Her Royal Meanness) becomes the star of her own reality show. With the help of audience suggestions, her plan is to ruin the Christmas of all her suitors: Elf on a Shelf, Jack Frost, Scrooge, The Grinch and even Santa himself. Vancouver Opera’s new abridged version of the classic fairytale Hansel and Gretel is an enchanting tale for the whole family, brought to life by the master artisans of the Old Trout Puppet workshop. Pre-show interactive opera stations give young opera-goers the chance to engage with opera professionals by drawing, playing theatre games, dressing up and singing in the lobby of the Playhouse for one hour prior to the matinees on November 27th and December 11th.

Discover the new interactive ‘Fireflies’ light display in the rainforest at Capilano Suspension Bridge. Using giant flashlights, you can magically awaken waves of tiny lights that twinkle like fireflies. Festive lights illuminate the suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk, rainforest and canyon, and guests can see the world’s tallest living Christmas tree (153 feet tall and growing!).

New for 2016, Enchant brings the world’s largest Christmas Light Maze to Vancouver. It’s made up of over 55,000 square feet of illuminated sculptures arranged into a puzzling maze. Alongside the lights, there will also be a market with over 40 local vendors, 12 food trucks and a bar area to enjoy holiday drinks.
