In honour of the integral role the city has played in bringing the Saga to life, film distributor eOne invited local celebs and a few lucky Twi-hards to attend the Vancouver premiere of Breaking Dawn—Part 2
The forthcoming debut ofBreaking Dawn—Part 2, the final chapter in theTwilight series, marks the beginning of the end for one of the most lucrative franchises in film history. But as much as this epic saga of lovesick supernaturals has been a global phenomenon, to many around these parts it feels like B.C.’s baby. It’s here that all five entries were filmed, here that RPattz and KStew met and fell in love for reals, here that Taylor Lautner first committed his formidable upper body to celluloid.
It’s only fitting then that distributor eOne hosted an exclusive premiere event in downtown Vancouver, which included a live stream of BDPart 2‘s Hollywood red carpet. Mere moments before Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart et al. kicked off the festivities in L.A., local celebrities like Fiona Forbes and Crystal Lowe (along with a few lucky contest winners) strutted down a carpet of their own inside Scotiabank Theatre, before taking a vow of silence, surrendering their smartphones and heading into the cinema to bid adieu to the tween idols that have seldom been far from our thoughts these past four years. Scroll through the gallery for our coverage of the big night.
Breaking Dawn—Part 2 finds Edward and Bella rallying bloodsuckers from around the world to defend their young family after being targeted for death by the Volturi. It opens in multiplexes across North America on November 16.
