Whether you grew up on the West Coast, have recently moved here, or are just planning to visit, there’s no doubt you’ve got a bunch of West Coast adventures you can’t wait to cross off your bucket list. To help you prioritize that list, we’re sharing some of our must-do B.C. experiences so you don’t miss out.Facebook: Ziptrek Ecotours Inc.
Experience: Whistler Zipline Tours
Cost: From $39.99 (children) and $69.99 adults
How to get there: Tours depart from Whistler Village
Bucket list factor: There’s more than one way to experience the thrill of being mountainside at Whistler, and if you’re not keen on hitting the slopes, why not take to the skies instead and soar above the tree line for an unforgettable experience.
Multi-award-winning adventure and ecotourism business Ziptrek, offers year-round ziplining adventures for the whole family, and prides itself on providing a unique experience that combines nature-based learning with a rush of adrenaline. And trust us, a rush of adrenaline is exactly what you get!
Ziptrek offers five different tours, and if you’re a little nervous, first-time ‘zippers’ and/or a family with young children, the original Bear Tour is recommended. The tour consists of four ziplines ranging from 400 to 1100 feet, which are joined by a network of suspension bridges, boardwalks and trails. Your zip overlooks the valley between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains where you’ll enjoy stunning aerial vistas above Fitzsimmons Creek.
If you’re searching for more of a thrill ride, the Eagle Tour features five different ziplines, including a 2400-foot line with a 30-storey descent, and four treetop bridges that offer spectacular panoramic views of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Knees quivering yet?
If that’s still not enough, The Sasquatch is the ultimate zipline experience for adrenaline junkies. Spanning a mind-blowing distance of two kilometres, you will experience spectacular views and 7,000 feet of pure exhilaration. The longest zipline in Whistler, Canada and the entire USA, The Sasquatch is an adventure you simply won’t forget—whether it’s from excitement or terror.
All Ziptrek tours have a minimum age requirement of six years old, with the exception of The Sasquatch tour, which requires a minimum age of 10. Children under the age of six years are welcome on the TreeTrek tour (and are free); however, infants need to be in backpack-style carriers.
