Education through the written word plays an important role in the reconciliation process and understanding of the relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. With June being National Indigenous History Month, finding ways to share Indigenous stories and honour the heritage and diversity of Indigenous people remains a crucial requirement in the reconciliation efforts of Canadians.

Following the results of the Truth and Reconciliation report in 2015, Nicole McLaren started a book club with the intent to share Indigenous texts and learnings to open the dialogue regarding Indigenous history in Canada. The success of the book club inspired Nicole to grow the conversation and bring the experience to wider audiences, through a literature delivery service, Raven Reads.

Raven Reads is a consciously curated gift box subscription service filled with premium Indigenous items and literature. Each box contains a book by an Indigenous writer, along with premium giftware from Indigenous artists. The boxes are delivered seasonally to the subscriber’s doorstep, with boxes available for both adults and children.
