Age: 29
Blogging for: 5 years
Hood: Kerrisdale
What she’s wearing: Top: Zara, leather jacket: vintage, shorts: Phillip Lim
Personal style: In flux
Fashion inspiration: The fact that it is constantly changing and that there will always be something new to learn. Also, the fantasy and creativity involved – watching shows and seeing pieces in person can be really emotional and inspirational.
Spring style tip: Because Vancouver can be a little unrelenting with the rain, always have a good jacket that is rain repellent – leather is a good choice. And a healthy rack of knits that can be layered for the chillier days.
Favourite local fashion blogger: Melissa Araujo, melissaaraujo.com
Favourite international fashion blogger: Probably my friend Jayne Min from stopitrightnow.com. She has amazing personal style and a brain to boot.
Favourite shop: The Room at Hudson’s Bay
Age: 25
Blogging for: 4 years
Hood: West Point Grey
What she’s wearing: Top: Asos, skirt: H&M, bag: Loeffler Randall, jacket and shoes: Zara
Personal style: It’s generally pretty classic with a slight feminine edge.
Fashion inspiration: I think at this point, I’m most inspired by the idea of finding a personal “uniform” consisting of quality, tried-and-true pieces and wonderful fits. And I truly feel like that can be for everyone.
Spring style tip: Layer, layer, layer. Vancouverites know how fickle our weather is, especially during the springtime.
Favourite shops: I love admiring the eye candy at Rebecca Bree in Kits – that store is a dream. Mine and Yours (1060 Hornby Street ) is a great new shop with a wonderful concept – like shopping your stylish best friend’s closet. And I can’t resist Hudson’s Bay.
Age: 26
Blogging for: 3 years
Hood: Fairview
What’s she’s wearing: Blouse: Wilfred by Aritzia, cardigan: Subtle Luxury, skirt: Club Monaco, bag: Rebecca Minkoff, jewellery: Keltie Leanne Designs
Personal style: It’s full of contradictions, but I really am a femme tomboy. I love sporty or menswear elements, but I still need a softness and delicacy to the way I dress.
Spring style tip: Layer! The weather’s all over the place around this time of year, so learning how to strategically layer thin pieces will add visual interest while also catering to any temperature or weather condition.
Vancouver style icon: I think my boss Treana Peake of Obakki has pretty awesome style. She always looks like a woman, but without losing any strength.
Favourite shops: I love all of Gastown’s offerings, but also love Rebecca Bree in Kits when I need a jolt of femininity.
Hood: Strathcona/Chinatown
What he’s wearing: Sweater: 33 Acres Brewery, clutch: Pierre Hardy from KOKKO, sunglasses: Bruce Eyewear, jacket: Kenzo wave denim, jeans: Zara kids, shoes: Converse, watch: Swatch
Personal style: Understated, playful, fun with a hint of androgyny
Fashion inspiration: Life. Fashion is a reflection of an era, time, movement, culture and life in general, and I think all of that combined continuously fuels my passion for fashion.
Spring style tip: Try something you have never done before. You don’t have to go all out or stick with a style or trend you tried once. Widen your horizons, that’s all.
Favourite shops: Robson and Gastown, hands down. I also love shopping at KOKKO in Richmond because they carry exclusive designer brands from Europe and Tokyo that you can’t find anywhere else in Vancouver.
Age: 27
Blogging for: 6 years
Hood: Mount Pleasant
What she’s wearing: Embellished top: Topshop, sunglasses: 8th + Main, bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target, leopard booties: Calvin Klein from Winners, jacket: Phillip Lim for Target, Second yoga skinny jeans, structured black bag 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target, Arrow bracelet by Olive & Piper, MARC by Marc Jacobs watch, assorted bracelets from J. Crew, Revlon Colorburst Matte Lip Balm 245 “Audacious”
Personal style: West Coast chic
Fashion inspiration: I’m constantly inspired by other bloggers, street style, fashion weeks and Instagram.
Blog beginnings: I started my blog as an online journal that basically three other people read. I also happened to be working in the fashion industry at the time and once I realized I could combine fashion and blogging, things started taking off.
Spring style tip: Update your existing spring basics with trendy accessories or a bold coral lip colour.
Vancouver style icon: Jillian Harris
Favourite place to shop: Front and Company
