Honouring conscious Canadian brands working to make life more beautiful responsibly
Jennifer Freitas is a leading Canadian beauty expert and the founder of The Truth Beauty Company and True Beauty Talk. Following extended research on chemicals, additives and the process of consumable elements, Jennifer decided to alter her personal care and food habits in order to ensure the safety and quality of ingredients consumed by both herself and those she loves. Being conscious of these elements allowed her to protect the environment and waters from persistent and bioaccumulative toxic chemicals affecting our bodies functionality. Ten years into green living, Jennifer decided to create a consumer-friendly platform which offers a viable equivalent to the toxic, chemically-laden commercial brands available in today’s saturated personal care market. Whilst keeping tabs on the latest achievements of the beauty industry, Jennifer and the Truth Beauty Company team thrive on finding alternatives that are cost-savvy, chemical-free and eco-friendly for her clientele and entourage. She is committed to chemical-free living and giving back to the planet through the work she does, the brands she stocks and the knowledge she imparts. Jennifer has appeared on The Marilyn Denis Show, Well + Good and Mind Body Green.
Cadi Jordan’s journey in health and wellness began at a young age when exposed to clean living through her aunt. Her educational background in child growth and development—as well as her time working with families with ASD—had her working with various health professionals. In the ’90s, Cadi embarked on her journey into the spa industry. This led to investigating more thoroughly the ingredients in our beauty products. As the operator of Jordan Consulting, Cadi is a respected social media and marketing strategist working throughout North America. Her forte is in consulting, coaching and online management in the eco-beauty, spa and health sectors. Cadi is also a columnist at Spa Inc. Magazine, Healing Lifestyles & Spas and BCLiving.
Julie Michaud is an innovative leader in the Canadian beauty industry. After a successful corporate career, Julie dove into sustainably-focused entrepreneurship in 2010. Her first business was in the sign industry where taking a risk to deploy eco-friendly technology and environmentally conscious practices landed the business the Green Innovator of the Year honour from the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce. After the sale of that company, Julie founded Portia Ella so she could focus more closely on her passion: the health, beauty and empowerment of women. Julie is empowering and educating thousands of women through Portia Ella, while raising two children under three years old.
