Canned cranberry sauce ain't gonna cut it after you've made your own.
Cranberry sauce
The hint of orange adds a nice dimension to this essential traditional side dish. Even Grandma would be proud.
Preparation time: 5 minutesCooking time: 15-20 minutes
May be prepared in advance and stored in the fridge.
250 grams fresh cranberries (local option: Blue Heron Fruit Winery)
150 ml cold water
1-2 strips orange zest
75 grams brown (local option: Rogers Sugar)
1 cinnamon stick

Place the cranberries in a small pan with cold water and gently bring to boil. Reduce heat, then simmer for 5 minutes, or until the berries start to burst.
Add the orange zest, sugar, cinnamon stick and stir. Simmer for 7-10 minutes, or until the sauce is thick. Transfer sauce to a small bowl.
Serve warm or cold. Serves 6
