Don't miss this year's Tomato Festival and RIPE Festival from the Vancouver Farmers Markets.
It’s not that sort of Tomato Festival…
It’s been another lovely summer of fresh fruits and veggies thanks to the various farmers markets around Vancouver. Most of the locations are still around for another month and a half so there’s plenty of time to head down to buy some summer goodness and can it for winter.
Two of the big end-of-season events are this weekend’s Tomato Festival at the Trout Lake Market, and RIPE, the second annual evening of food and entertainment that puts the fun in fundraising, in False Creek on September 26.

As well as great tomatoes, the festival also offers recipes, preserving demos, tastings and scavenger hunts for the children. New varieties will also be available to test.
Sunday, September 26, 2010 5-8 p.m.
Creekside Community Centre
This year’s RIPE festival not only offers great food, music and fun, but also the opportunity to check out the new Creekside Community Centre in South East False Creek. It’s a family friendly event (with beer and wine for the adults) and proceeds go to supporting the farmers’ markets.
