While this new series won’t officially debut until January, here’s a chance to catch a sneak preview. Bill Pullman (Independence Day) returns to the White House to play the president in this sitcom about how “normal” things are for any family — even the First one. Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg) co-stars as his wife and Broadway star Josh Gad (The Book of Mormon) plays their adult son, who is forced to move back home during a personal crisis.

Gossip Girl (Series Finale)
5 p.m. & 9 p.m., MuchMusic; 8 p.m., The CW
This two-hour special includes a retrospective followed by the final episode, which may reveal the identity of “Gossip Girl.”

Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas

In another spin-off from a popular animated film series, Sid (John Leguizamo) heads to the North Pole to try to get back on Santa’s nice list after accidentally destroying Manny’s (Ray Romano) Christmas decorations.

Dreamwork’s Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury

Based on the film How to Train Your Dragon, this animated special follows the adventures of Hiccup (Jay Baruchel), Astrid (America Ferrera) and Stoick (Gerard Butler) as they investigate why all the dragons have left town on the verge of the holidays.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
8 p.m., ABC
In this two-part holiday special (continuing at 9 p.m.), Ty Pennington and his team take on the task of renovate the domicile of James and Devonda Friday, who have opened up their home to 30 foster children.

Journey to Christmas (New Series)
8 p.m., Vision
This four-part documentary series (which continues tomorrow through Thursday at the same time) follows five Canadians on a quest to the Holy Land in search of the true meaning of Christmas, including spending Christmas Eve in a manger in Bethlehem.

Carol Channing: Larger Than Life

This documentary about Broadway and film legend Carol Channing catches up with the acclaimed actress in the twilight of her life as she prepares to make a rare stage appearance to celebrate her 90th birthday.
