Meet the man credited for creating supermodel Giselle’s sexy, beachy, multi-faceted hair colour
New York-based for many years now, Harry Josh is the celebrity hair stylist credited for creating supermodel Giselle’s sexy, beachy, multi-faceted hair colour. That was 13 years ago, and he’s been her colourist ever since. Today we call that look ombré. It appears Harry was on to something long before the masses hopped on board the trend train, and is exactly why his career has exploded.
Josh’s work has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, British Vogue, GQ and Allure. He’s been featured in how-to segments on Oprah and NBC’s Today Show, plus he’s done the ‘dos of A-listers like Gwyneth Paltrow, Amanda Seyfried and Rose Byrne for many a magazine cover.
John Frieda International, an extensive hair product line that delivers the goods at a super-affordable price, tapped Josh as Creative Consultant some time ago.
The brands’ signature product, and where it all started is Frizz Ease, which has expanded over the years to become a collection, within the collection, all to itself. In the world of beauty – oils are sizzling hot. From delicate drops for the face, to dry oil sprays for the body – women are realizing that oil doesn’t have to mean ‘greasy’ and that oils can be a light, soothing and replenishing tonic.
Hair products are no exception, as Harry explains. “In the salon, stylists are always creating custom product cocktails to suit their clients’ exact styling and hair care needs. Now, with new Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil Elixir, $12.99, you can use this pro-trick at home by adding a bit of it to another styling product to give it an extra nourishing benefit.”
His tips on how to use it? Apply a small amount to wet or dry hair (alone or mixed with your styling crème, gel or mousse) to improve manageability, restore hair’s softness, and eliminate frizz.
Are you a curly top? Spring hair trends are leaning towards soft waves and curl, so store the straightening iron away, and embrace that gorgeous texture of yours. Harry says, “It’s a new era in curly haired styling. Polished curls, undone waves, and big shiny ringlets are what I’m seeing more and more editorially and on the world’s most beautiful women. With the Frizz Ease curl products, we’ve given women the tools they need to create beautiful curls right at home.
Available in six colour-prescriptive shades – warm and cool blonde, brunette and red tones – the weekly in-shower treatment is easy to use and contains no peroxide or ammonia. $12.99 for six in-shower applications. All above products are available at food, drug and mass retailers.
