A Master Gardener is someone who has completed a training program, available throughout British Columbia, and approved by the Master Gardeners Association of B.C.
Master Gardeners work in a variety of volunteer activities, including:
➢ Educating home gardeners at garden centres; ➢ Working on the plant information line; ➢ Participating in community projects that range from therapeutic gardens in hospitals to gardening with children in schools; and ➢ Speaking or writing about aspects of gardening.
Apart from the joy of volunteering, benefits include an opportunity for lifelong learning with garden experts as well as the pleasure of being in a community of dedicated gardeners.
Interested? Find out more at www.bcmastergardeners.org. On the website, you will find the current issue of the Master Gardener quarterly newsletter, which keeps Master Gardeners from each of the geographic regions of British Columbia up-to-date with the activities of other gardeners in other regions. The newsletter is written by and for members and includes association business along with helpful gardening knowledge for anyone interested in becoming a better gardener.
