Magnolia Halloween Specials – Until October 31

Forget the tricks and treat yourself to a fabulously spooky time in Victoria. The Magnolia Hotel & Spa is featuring special fall and Halloween deals in one of the province’s most haunted cities.

The hotel is getting in the spirit by decorating, leaving sweet treats in the rooms, and offering a Spooktacular Package, which includes a self-guided walking trail through the city’s most spine-chilling spots. For an extra dose of creepy fun, try a nighttime carriage ride complete with ghostly tales to accompany the jaunt.

Fright Nights – Until November 1

The Pacific National Exhibition’s blood-curdling Fright Nights are an annual must-visit attraction for many Vancouverites, and this year is no exception. With seven haunted houses, including last year’s hit “The Keeper’s Doll Factory,” Fright Nights boasts a lineup of horrifying entertainment that’s not for the faint of heart. Playland’s newest addition, an extreme pendulum ride called “The Beast,” is included in admission along with 14 other scream-worthy rides.

Treacherous Tea in the Little White House – October 30 and 31

Fort Langley’s self-proclaimed most-haunted building, the Little White House, is crawling with Victorian-era charm and ghostly guests. For $18, join its resident phantom, The Lady in White, for a Halloween-themed high tea. You can make your afternoon even eerier with a psychic reading for $30. Call 604-888-8386 to reserve a spot.

The Lost Souls of Gastown – October 15 to 31

There are plenty of haunted houses decked out for the season, but there’s something extra scary about discovering Vancouver’s true eerie past.

Join Forbidden Vancouver’s Lost Souls of Gastown for a walking tour of the city’s most terrifying tales. The tour reveals the city’s start as a wild-western town, the most shocking murder of Victorian Vancouver, and all the most scandalous stories and disastrous events since then. Prepare yourself for dark twists, mysterious turns and lots of frightening fun.

Halloween Ghost Train – Until November 1

The Stanley Park Halloween Ghost Train is a classic Vancouver tradition, so this year’s theme of classic horror movies is an appropriate choice. Flicks like Dracula, Frankenstein and The Phantom of the Opera will set the scene for a thrilling ride with live actors and supernatural surprises. Families with young children may want to consider going on one of the less-scary matinee rides on weekends.

Halloween at the Waterfront – October 31

Luxury, intrigue and spine-tingling good times await at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel’s annual costume party, Halloween at the Waterfront. Hosted by Grey Goose Vodka, this adults-only event is a chance to dress up in your sauciest costumes and spend the night partying hard in the Fairmont’s ballroom. Tickets include appetizers and access to a VIP after-party at the Blackbird Public House. Make sure to grab your tickets soon because this devilish event is selling out fast.

Yaletown Halloween Trick or Treat

Businesses in Vancouver’s trendy Yaletown neighbourhood will be participating in the 16th Annual Trick or Treat event. With gourmet candy shops like Karameller handing out special sweets, you’re bound to end up with a treat bag that can’t be topped.

Granville Island’s Halloweenie

Granville Island’s annual Halloweenie celebration is the perfect place for young kids who might be sensitive to the spooky season. The Kids Market is throwing a bash for the whole family, complete with free hot dogs, trick-or-treating, and an on-site photographer to capture the magic.

Just a SeaBus ride away from downtown Vancouver, Lonsdale Quay Market on the North Shore is always a safe bet for holiday fun. Stop by for Halloween activities that will include crafts, story time, pumpkin carving, face painting and, of course, trick-or-treating.
