End summer with a bang at the city’s biggest barbeque. Unbuckled is taking over Stanley Park’s Brockton Point and transforming it into a West Coast version of the Wild West. The day will be filled with live bluegrass music, picnic games, and cowboy costumes galore. This fully-licensed event boasts refreshing drinks worthy of any saloon, and more down-home barbecue than you’ll know what to do with.
2 p.m. till dusk Brockton Point, Stanley Park
It doesn’t matter if you’re Fred Astaire or have two left feet, The Dance Centre’s Shall We Dance Fundraiser is sure to entertain and inspire. The evening kicks off with a champagne reception and three-course dinner with some of Vancouver’s most renowned dancers. The after-party is themed “Dance Hotel” and features six floors of live dance, circus acts, open bars, and more for guests to wander and explore at their leisure. Tickets for the entire evening – or for just the party – are available online.
6 p.m. till 12 a.m. Scotiabank Dance Centre, 677 Davies Street, Vancouver
The One Night Fruit Stand is a little mysterious, and a lot of fun. Like Diner En Blanc with a fruity twist, the location of this secret party won’t be revealed until just before the event. Hosted by Here There Studio, The Social Yoga, and lululemon, do yoga, sip a special fruit punch prepared by Odd Society and The Juice Truck, and enjoy a party full of the unexpected.

The Luxury and Supercar Weekend is taking extravagance to a whole new level with a classy afternoon showcasing some of the hottest rides in the world. This garden party takes place at VanDusen Gardens, and beyond cars, there will also be entertainment, pop-up restaurants, and drinks provided by local restaurants. Both general admission tickets and VIP tickets are available online.

Celebrate B.C.’s intrinsic relationship with the ocean at the Vancouver Festival of Ocean Films hosted by the Georgia Strait Alliance. Screening two feature films, Thule Tuvalu and The Breach, and one short film, The Fisherman’s Son, the festival highlights the role the ocean plays in our lives. You can get tickets for one or all of the movies, as well as for the Georgia Strait Alliance’s birthday party and annual general meeting.

If you need another reason to be excited for fall, then the Autumn Shift Festival is a pretty good one. Hosted on Main Street, the festival has it all: live entertainment, local shopping, family friendly activities, and more. Be sure not to miss the Smoking Sausage BBQ Cook Off, a fundraiser for the Food Bank. Restaurants, stores, and culinary schools will go head-to-head crafting a special sausage and then having a publicly judged cook-off to determine the winner.

Take a culinary road trip across the U.S.A. without ever leaving Chinatown at Mamie Taylor’s Regional Longtable Dinners. Starting in September, on every third Wednesday of the month, Mamie Taylor’s will be paying tribute to different towns across the southern states. New Orleans, Louisiana; Charleston, South Carolina; and Kansas City, Missouri will all get a chance to shine with authentic dishes and cocktails.

Promising “mountains of beer,” the Whistler Village Beer Festival has a lot of things to boast about. There are four days of events throughout the village, and two days of tastings in Whistler Plaza. At the tastings, there will be local food trucks, live music stages, and 80 different breweries taking over the plaza. Over 3,000 guests per day are expected to attend, which means there will be no shortage of new friends and new brews to discover.

Rise and shine with Nordstrom’s Beauty Bash on the the store’s opening day. Hosted in partnership with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the event will feature experts sharing cosmetic tips and trends, and providing consultations and demonstrations. The first 2,500 customers who get their makeup done will get an exclusive Nordstrom tote.

Taste the finest the Valley has to offer at the Fraser Valley Cork and Keg event – sip local and international wines, craft beers, and artisan spirits. It’s about more than just the booze though. There will also be an oyster bar, and fresh, local food from the region’s most established culinary talents.
