1. Vancouver British Classic Car Show – Saturday, May 18

Gear up for the 34th annual All British Field Meet to celebrate the best of British motor vehicles from Astons and Austins to esoteric models such as the Vauxhall Hurlingham. Covering 61 classes, close to 500 classic cars will be showcased, so pack a picnic, visit the food trucks or book a table at the pop-up English High Tea pavilion to fuel up.

2. Spot Prawn Festival – Sunday, May 19

Celebrate B.C.’s sweetest shellfish at the annual festival of our province’s prized prawns. Buy direct from the boats or enjoy a bowl of delicious chowder made by the festival chefs. Try a tasting menu of six spot prawn brunch dishes from some of Vancouver’s top chefs and look out for free cooking demos, as well as samples of wine, beer and sweet treats.

3. Vancouver Comic Arts Festival – Saturday, May 18 & Sunday, May 19

Featuring readings, panels and workshops, plus an exhibition of work by cartoonists from across the Canada and the West Coast, this two-day comic arts festival is now in its seventh year of celebrating comic creators and fans.
The Roundhouse, 181 Roundhouse Mews, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

4. rEvolver Festival – Wednesday, May 22 to Saturday, June 2

From script-based theatre to devised and site-specific works, staged readings of work-in-progress, and in-depth discussions with artists, rEvolver Festival features 21 shows of contemporary theatrical performances over 11 days.

5. Cosmic Nights – Thursday, May 23

Grab a friend and space out at Cosmic Nights: The Sun. Learn more about current space missions and hot topics in astronomy and exploration at this fun evening of science and socializing. Guests can watch a custom planetarium show, listen to a guest lecturer, and enjoy music, drinks, science demonstrations and games at this 19+ event.

6. Top Drop – Thursday, May 23 & Friday, May 24

Bringing together a collection of small, hands-on wineries, craft breweries, cideries and food purveyors who are passionate about their craft, Top Drop Vancouver celebrates its sixth year with a two-day trade and public tasting event and events at various Vancouver restaurants.

7. 2019 Pacific Innovation Fair – Thursday, May 23

One of 17 Innovation Fairs delivered across the country by the Government of Canada’s Regional Federal Councils and the Privy Council Office,  The Pacific Innovation Fair is a free initiative for public servants, external partners and members of the general public to participate in activities, seminars, panel discussions and a huge trade show showcasing public service innovation.

8. Grease Sing-A-Long – Friday, May 24

Grease fans, this is the show that you’ll want… oh, oh, oh, honey. Come and sing along to classic hits from Summer Lovin’ to Greased Lightning, and don’t forget to dress up as your favourite character!

9. BE MOVED – Thursday, May 23 to Saturday, May 25

BE MOVED is the culmination of months of exploration and rehearsal of bold and innovative works created for Arts Umbrella Dance Company (AUDC) dancers by leading International and Canadian choreographers. Expect extraordinary, cutting-edge performances, including pieces by Crystal Pite, Emily Molnar, Johan Inger, Lesley Telford, James Kudelka, Mats Ek, and Amos Ben-Tal.

10. A Wildebeest Sausage & Rosé Party – Thursday, May 23

Wildebeest has partnered with Top Drop for the second year in a row with Pink Links, a sausage-and-rosé-themed party. The grazing event showcases executive chef Ian McHale’s house-made charcuterie, sausages and additional snacks being passed around the room, along with a global collection of delicious pink wines from Vancouver Island to the hills of Champagne.
