1. Travis Wall’s Shaping Sound presents After the Curtain – Saturday, March 25

Choreographer Travis Wall’s Shaping Sound is one of the hottest dance companies in America since finding fame with their reality show, All The Right Moves. After The Curtain tells the heartrending story of a man fighting to find his creative voice after the death of his one true love. With a fusion of jazz, modern and hip-hop, the ensemble will give shape and form to sound through whole-body athleticism and an abundance of charisma and passion.

2. Shoreline Clean Up – Sunday, March 26

Help keep our beaches clean with a shoreline cleanup at Spanish Banks this weekend. Join the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society Vancouver for a few hours of collecting sea debris. They will bring buckets and bags; you just need to bring work gloves, water and snacks.

3. How to Be Ultra Spiritual – Monday, March 27

YouTube satirist and life coach JP Sears’s witty yet insightful take on spirituality has culimiunated in the launch of his new book, How to Be Ultra Spiritual: 12½ Steps to Spiritual Superiority, which combines teachings from his (real) emotional healing practice with funny insights into becoming more spiritual.

4. Collaborative Chefs’ Dinner at Au Comptoir – Tuesday, March 28

Executive chef Dan McGee welcomes Vancouver-by-way-of-Venezuela chef Jefferson Alvarez of Kitsilano’s Cacao for a unique six-course collaborative feast that blends his signature classic French bistro fare with Alvarez’s innovative brand of progressive Latin American cuisine. Tickets include a welcome cocktail by Cacao bar manager Sergio Grandolfo, as well as wine pairings supplied by Galileo Wine & Spirits, Liberty Wines and Altus Wines.

6. Hardline Productions presents Redpatch – Wednesday, March 29 to Sunday, April 9

Written by co-artistic directors Raes Calvert and Sean Harris Oliver, and based on true events, this timely historical Canadian drama opens on the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge and follows the story of a young Métis volunteer soldier from the Nuu-chah-nulth nation of Vancouver Island deployed to fight in the First World War.

7. Vancouver International Burlesque Festival – Wednesday, March 29 to Saturday, April 1

From veteran workshops and TED-style TIT Talks to International Cabaret and Vancouver Uncovered, the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival is a celebration of the art of performance and is guaranteed to dazzle and delight.

8. Sea and Sky: A Sensory Music Experience – Thursday, March 30

Check out this multimedia performance project, which incorporates new music works written for a piano and clarinet duo, along with an exploration of improvised elements, electro-acoustic components and interactive video projection.

9. Ginger Beer and Wild Herb Sodas Workshop – Thursday, March 30

Hipsters and homesteaders can learn to make seasonal sodas with avid fermenter Andrea Potter of Rooted Nutrition. Bring a 500 mL Mason jar to take home your creation and learn about the basics of how wild yeast fermentation works, the equipment needed, and that wobbly line between soda and adult beverage.

10. Urban Dance Party – Friday, March 31

Dance the night away with Party4Health’s decentralized outdoor dance party at UBC’s AMS Student Nest on March 31. The drug- and alcohol-free rave is an inclusive event based on Tom and Gary’s Decentralized Dance Parties in the US.
