1. Remembering Vancouver 2010 — Until March 21

MOV is celebrating by bringing one of the beloved official Olympic Mascots out from the vault to be on display in the studio. Quatchi, the lovable sasquatch mascot and representative of the Lil’wat First Nation, will be on display in the MOV studio until March 21, 2020.

2. Anti-Valentine’s Vini Volpe — Friday, February 14 & Saturday, February 15

Couples, galentines and families seeking a less traditional way of celebrating their love won’t want to miss an Anti-Valentine’s Vini Volpe held at Caffè La Tana. Lingering late into the night, the festive pop-up welcomes guests to indulge in cicchetti (canapes) while toasting their bond with bold Italian wines. Buon appetito!

3. Talking Sex on Sunday — Friday, February 14 to March 8

On the first Sunday of every month, Margot and her lady pals host a themed party. But what happens when Margot decides to kick it up a notch by having a Sex Toy Party? In this new musical comedy by Sara-Jeanne Hosie and Nico Rhodes, we witness these women share fears, reveal dirty secrets, explore new possibilities and find the power of female friendship.

4. Sunday Night Movie Series — Sunday, February 16

Fraserhood hangout and beer hall Bells and Whistles continues to give cinephiles a front-row seat to classic flicks on select Sunday nights at 9 p.m. during its Sunday Night Movie Series, which continues this winter with screenings of Footloose (February 16) and Road House (February 23). During each screening, guests can enjoy free popcorn and take advantage of late happy hour specials from 10 p.m. till close.

5. Kids Take Over UBC — Sunday, February 16

Kids and youth are taking on adult-sized roles at the UBC Arts and Culture District, working alongside staff and volunteers to promote a vibrant community on campus. Little ones can join in with events from drag shows to museum curation.

6. Sea to Sky Gondola Reopening — Monday, February 17

Squamish’s Sea to Sky Gondola reopens six months after being forced to close due to an act of vandalism. Lift tickets are half-price on Family Day to thank the community for supporting the Sea to Sky Gondola.

7. Richmond Children’s Art Festival — Monday, February 17

Check out the art and theatre events, or sign your kids up for creative classes at the Richmond Children’s Art Festival, which includes seminars from animation and song-writing to dance, improv and drama.

8. B.C. Home + Garden Show — Wednesday, February 19 to Sunday, February 23

Get inspired with design, cooking and garden ideas from a range of experts at the B.C. Home + Garden Show, with a focus on eco-friendly and sustainable choices such as plant-based diets and tropical house plants. Local garden expert Stephanie Rose (Garden Therapy) launches Garden Alchemy, a hands-on guide for do-it-yourself gardeners filled with natural recipes. Local urban gardener Carissa Kasper (Seed & Nourish and Victory Gardens) shares ways to make your lifestyle more green and eco-friendly through plants. Holistic nutritionist Hilary Brent (The Rooted Table) shares recipes for some plant-based treats. 9. BIG Sister — Wednesday, February 19 to February 29

A true story—depending on who you ask. A one-woman comedy about the relationship between two sisters and what happens when one of them changes. The real life experience of sister/actor Naomi’s 70-pound weight loss, written through the perspective of younger sibling/writer Deborah. BIG Sister explores a world of evil siblings, fat shaming and unlikely collaboration.

10. Brazilian Carnaval — Friday, February 21

Latincouver, the Brazilian Community Association of B.C., and Sambacouver present the third edition of Brazilian Carnaval, featuring a DJ and live performances from Sambacouver, ShotSambado and Cabral’l Fault.
