IDSwest runs Sept. 27-30 and features the best in cutting-edge design and celebrities like international architect Piero Lissoni and HGTV personality Kelly Deck
Interior designer Kelly Deck will have a contemporary kitchen on display at IDSwest 2012
The residential design show will feature 300 exhibitors and is expected to attract 30,000 industry professionals, architects, designers and consumers.
Vancouver interior designer and host of HGTV’s Take it Outside Kelly Deck of Kelly Deck Design describes the three-day event as a complex, inspiring production.
“It is very design driven,” she said. “You will not find ShamWows and food processors mixed in with design. It is about sophisticated design that encourages people to take more risks. It is one of the best design shows in the country.”
Deck and her team, along with AyA Kitchens and Baths, will have a contemporary kitchen on display. Located across from the much anticipated Bocci Bar by Inform Interiors, the lounge-style kitchen will feature flat-panel, sage-green cabinetry, a creamy marble backsplash and countertop streaked in gold and green and a gold hood fan with coordinating gold hardware. Bocci lighting will be strung at different heights above the kitchen island.
“This is not a kitchen that we would necessarily have an easy time convincing our clients to do,” said Deck. “It is a party kitchen, a lounge kitchen designed for people to enjoy a glass of champagne in on opening night.”
For 2012, IDSwest grows by 30,000 square feet and introduces new features and highlights, while playing host to international design icons and local celebrities. There will be a runway show by Vancouver Fashion Week, a 1,200-square-foot space designed by international architect Piero Lissoni and a display of works by late artist Tobias Wong in conjunction with the Museum of Vancouver.
Speakers will include Lissoni, architect Michael Green, HGTV personality Tommy Smythe, Canadian House & Home magazine editor Suzanne Dimma, interior designer Amanda Forrest and Deck.
General admission is $15; $10 for students and seniors; children under 12 admitted free. Tickets pre-purchased online are $3 off.
